The Story Behind the Painting

Otago Harbour Gulls

This oil painting was inspired by a photograph I took while visiting Otago Harbour. Captivated by the ever-changing coastal light and the graceful movement of the gulls, I sought to capture the energy of the harbour and the atmosphere of this uniquely New Zealand landscape. Through layered colour and expressive brushwork, the painting reflects both the beauty of the location and my personal experience of being there. The artwork was later acquired by a collector for a coastal home, where its maritime theme found a natural setting
